We have three fellowship programs for young fellows from relatively underdeveloped countries.

2010 Asian Travelling Fellowship awards (Update: Jan 20, 2010)
Sponsorship
JPOA founded Asian traveling fellowship in 1999. The fellowship offers 2 or 3 young pediatric orthopaedic surgeons every year from Asian region a chance to attend an annual JPOA meeting from November, 26 to 27, 2010 in Tokushima and to visit some orthopaedic centers (about a week) before or after the meeting. JPOA will support the airfare between each country and Japan, and the local accommodation. The date and place of the visits will be decided based on a discussion between the recipients and the fellows.

Eligibility
An applicant must be an orthopaedic surgeon and under the age of 40 years old by the deadline date of April 30, 2010.

Method of Application
The applicant should send a letter with a full C.V. including
1. a cover letter,
2. at least one letter of recommendation from mentors
3. abstract (within 300 words) of your study that will be presented at the meeting. The submission of the full paper will be required when the candidate is accepted.

Applicants over 40 years old and those without CV or recommendation letter will not be considered for the fellowship. If the selected applicants cancel without warrant 3 months or less before the meeting, they and any other applicants from their countries will lose the chance to apply to the Asian Traveling Fellowship for three years.

2011 JPOA Matsuo Fellowship (Update: April, 2010)
The Matsuo Fellowship Committee would like to call for candidates for 2011 JPOA Matsuo Fellowship. The Japanese Pediatric Orthopaedic Association has allotted 200,000 yen per person. In 2011, one or two fellows from foreign countries will study orthopaedic treatments for cerebral palsy directed by Prof. Matsuo at Minamitama Orhopaedic Hospital for about four weeks. The hospital is located in Machida City, Tokyo.

The candidates for the fellowship should meet the following requirements:

Age under about 45 years
Major interest in orthopedic treatments for cerebral palsy
Scientific works related to pediatric orthopaedics
Satisfactory knowledge in English
Completed training program in orthopaedics
