Asian Travelling Fellowship awards (Update: Jan 17, 2012)
Deadline April 30, 2012

FELLOWSHIP
This fellowship program was founded by Japanese Pediatric Orthopaedic Association to support young candidates who have interest in the Pediatric Orthopaedics from any Asian countries. During one week in Japan, the candidates will visit and stay at an institution and attend the JPOA annual meeting. They also have to make presentation at that meeting and to apply the full paper to the Journal of JPOA. JPOA and founders hope that this will provide an opportunity to the candidate to broaden their experience, and prepare them for educational and leadership roles in our field.

ELIGIBILITY
An applicant must be an orthopaedic surgeon and under the age of 40 years old by the deadline date of April 30, 2012.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT
JPOA will support the airfare between each country and Japan, and the local accommodation. But the applicants must pay the incidental costs like the fee for the spouse.
The International Committee has approved the policy stating " We has set an upper limit to the price of an economy class air ticket, depending on the flight distance."

STAY IN JAPAN
Successful applicants should attend the 23nd annual meeting of JPOA that will be held at Fukuoka, during November 30 - December 1, 2012 and present their study in the meeting. During one-week stay in Japan, JPOA will arrange several hospitals to visit for the applicants.

SELECTION
The selection will be made based on the CV and quality of their submitted manuscript. The selection will be made by the end of May 2012 and the successful applicants will be noticed by the end of the month.
The International Committee of JPOA considers the application as an agreement to attend. If the selected persons cancel without warrant 3 months or less before the meeting, they and any other applicants from their countries will lose the chance to apply to the Asian Traveling Fellowship for three years.

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. The original completed application form (attached to this e-mail)
  2. A full Curriculum Vitae with a portrait
  3. Abstract (within 300 words) of your study that will be presented at the meeting. Submission of the full paper to the Journal of Japanese Pediatric Orthopaedic Association will be compulsory when the candidate is accepted.
  4. Letter of recommendation from mentors, whom we can contact directly by e-mail.

A set of those must be submitted to Hidehiko Kawabata MD, Chairman of JPOA International Committee, no later than April 30, 2012 through e-mail or post. Incomplete applications or those received after the deadline will not be considered.
